Freedom Isn't Free, It's a gift from God
When you know the truth, the truth will make you free — John 8:32
Truth is the one thing that is hard to discover and a lot of people are just not interested. If we are the least bit interested in the truth, we listen to news broadcasters each evening or morning. The word of that is that if you are a channel flipper like me you hear different tales about the same news on different news organizations. They just can't seem to come to some agreement as to what the truth is. The maddest I believe I have ever been is when I learned that our politicians do not have to tell the TRUTH while campaigning. Why do we bother listening to campaign speeches or advertisements during elections because they are all LIES designed by people in advertising to make their man look good. I know, I spent 20 years in advertising.
The Mayflower Compact was a document establishing a Christian colony at Plymouth Rock, Va. in 1620:
"In the name of God, Amen. We, whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread Sovereigne Lord, King James, by the grace of God, of Great Britaine, France and Ireland king, defender of the faith, etc. having undertaken, for the glory of God, and advancement of the Christian faith, and honour of our king and country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the Northerne parts of Virginia, doe by these presents solemnly and mutually in the presence of God and one of another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civill body politick, for our better ordering and preservation, and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enacte, constitute, and frame such just and equall laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions and offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meete and convenient for the generall good of the Colonie unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. In witness whereof we have hereunder subscribed our names at Cape-Codd the 11. of November, in the year of the raigne of our sovereigne lord, King James, of England, France and Ireland, the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fiftie-fourth Anno Dom. 1620."
And the document is followed by forty one signatures.
Following are some quotes that should be taught to every man, woman and child of the United States of America because we are FREE and FREEDOM comes from God and so does the UNITED STATES.
==============================================================
As we celebrate the birth of our nation it’s important to know the truth that set our freedom free. This nation was founded not by religionists but by Christian faith.
— the Mayflower Compact of 1620.
This nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians; not religion, but by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
— Patrick Henry
We recognize no sovereign but God and no king but Jesus Christ — John Hancock
[The Constitution] A system, which without the finger of God could not have been suggested.
— Alexander Hamilton
The Lord is our judge [Judicial]; The Lord is our lawgiver [Legislative]; The Lord is our King [Executive].
— James Madison inspired by Isaiah 33:22
"God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever. Commerce between master and slave is despotism. Nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than these people are to be free. Establish the law for educating the common people. This it is the business of the state to effect and on a general plan."
— Thomas Jefferson
"To the distinguished character of patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian."
— George Washington
Inscribed on the Liberty Bell:
"Proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the Land unto all the inhabitants thereof"
— Leviticus 25:10
I now make it my earnest prayer that God would have you, and the State over which you preside, in his holy protection; that he would incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government, to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another, for their fellow-citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for brethren who have served in the field; and finally that he would most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind, which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without an humble imitation of whose example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy nation.

Freedom Isn't Free...You Have To Work At It
As I observe the events occurring in our nation and around the world, I cannot help but to worry that something is very much amiss. I’ve lived long enough to have seen times when doors were seldom locked, church bells rang on Sunday morning, people watched out for each other’s children, children were taught to respect their elders, teachers read scripture and had morning prayer in classrooms, and the pledge of allegiance was recited by students with hand over heart, including the words Under God. I was witness to a nation, whose citizens sacrificed their time, money, sons and daughters to a world war on foreign soil for the freedom that united we stand, stands for. Again I saw men and women go, not to war but a “police action”, to save the small country of South Korea from the threat of communist North Korea. Thousands gave the last full measure of their life to this cause. President Kennedy gave us reason to be proud when he faced down Castro and Kruschev during the Cuban missile crisis.
Then came, possibly our histories most unpopular conflict, Vietnam. France had already been there and was soundly defeated, so the USA decided to take up the task. At first, we were only going in as advisors to the South Vietnam military. Nevertheless, things kept escalating. For some unknown reason, our political leaders were afraid to win this “conflict” because it might offend our other enemies, namely the USSR. If memory serves me correctly, they were afraid that it might escalate into a nuclear conflict. Our returning soldiers, who had endured the “don’t fire unless fired upon” rule and clawed their way through mud and jungle and survived, were jeered and spat upon as they disembarked their ships. They were exhausted and demoralized from having lost, and yet they were treated like the “bad guy” when they finally made it safely back to the land of the free and the home of the brave. It was a sad thing to see.
The Jane Fonda type “peaceniks” bravely mistreated our returning soldiers with impunity. Only in America could they have gotten away with such atrocious behavior, protected by the same men who were offering their lives for freedom around the world. Only in America are people free to be obnoxious and belligerent as they please. There have been terrorists, both foreign and domestic all the while thinking a bomb placed here or there every now and then to kill a few innocents would make all the difference in the world. What kind of difference do they really want? America is the one nation where every citizen has the freedom to speak his peace, practice his religion, make his life pretty much of what he wants it to be without any interference from anyone. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is guaranteed in the Constitution.
America’s war against terrorism is far from over and yet our citizens tire of it. It is beginning to look like another Vietnam. No real ambition to be winners again. Pogo author, Walt Kelly said it best in 1970 when he wrote: “I have seen the enemy and he is us.” We have no leadership in Washington; congress, the senate, the president, all seem to have their heads in the sand thinking things will eventually get better. Of course, it is not really too bad for them; they all have a job with a good salary and benefits. From the top looking down, it does’t look too bad. While I am not at the bottom, I can see it from where I sit and it looks really bad down there. Moreover, from my point of view looking up, it is beginning to look really bad up there; no one up there seems to be paying attention. Yet it is really the fault of the citizens, us, we the people. We are too busy to pay attention and vote as though our very freedom and liberty depend on it. Yet it really does. Freedom loving Americans should start paying attention to the matters at hand. I hope it is not too late, some people think it is. As one who believes in the Judeo-Christian principles the founding fathers built this nation on, I say that if we citizens cannot rescue America from its perceived destiny, then look to the last verse in the Bible, Revelation 22:20 -- He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

My How Things Have Changed
By Ray Rogers
When I was a small boy I went to an elementary school in Washington DC and at the beginning of the day we would get started by saying the pledge of allegiance, we would hear a small scripture read over the intercom by one of the students, we would recite the Lords prayer, and then we would sing patriotic songs like 'My Country Tis of Thee'.
Our teachers taught us how great our country is and how our brave forefathers fought for our country so that Americans would know true freedom. Freedom of religion, no more Church of England shoved down our throats. Freedom to own land and freedom from the whims of a belligerent King.
Then someone found fault with our American way of life. They suddenly found us offensive and politically incorrect. So our politicians decided to make decisions that changed the way could talk and behave. Just because it made someone feel uncomfortable.
Our teachers had been very proud of our country and our heritage and they instilled in us a feeling of pride that made us proud to be an American. Now I hear stories of how our children are being taught now that America is evil, that the only reason our nation is so great is because we have stolen what we have from weaker countries. Even past presidential candidate John Kerry said that we were like Genghis Khan torturing and raping in other countries. I personally don't believe anything these politically motivated people say.
So what's my point? Well it's this: today we have more gang violence, gun violence, murder, hate, and division than we've ever had throughout my 53 years of memory. Why is this? Maybe it's because when we were children and pride in our country was being taught to us we felt like we belonged to a great nation, we weren't looking for anywhere to belong, such as a gang. We didn't need gang affiliation because we were proud non-hyphenated Americans.
When our own schools teach us that we should be ashamed of our heritage, that leaves a hole that needs to be filled with something. There is not a child in the world that doesn't want to belong to something great. So if they don't get that need to belong satisfied by God and country they're going to find another way to fill that need and it's not always a good choice.
Teachers should stop telling our kids that our country was wrong for believing in freedom, they're robbing them of the greatest feeling of pride that they'll ever know, the pride of being an American.
I'd like to see the ACLU go to a Muslim country and complain about them praying to Allah in their schools. I think they might lose their head.
There shouldn't be a need to look for something to belong to. We already belong to something great. THE GREATEST NATION THAT EVER WAS. Oh, and how has the way we done it for the last 35 years been working out for us?
I'm 53 years old, I'm an American, I'm proud of my American heritage, and I want my country back for the sake of my grandchildren.
